The twin cities of the desert. Superficially as different as coke and christ, in reality they built and depend on eachoter intimatley. Ineterpeneterative.
The one to the south was named by the first wave of bloodthirsty conquerers to sweep the reigion (contested archeological evidence exists of atleast one previous wave) when they named it after the old color of the plants in the area: The Greens (In their language, "Las Vegas"). The name has long outlasted the plants, and now names what paved them over.
The one to the north was named by the second wave of historically-attested bloodthirsty conquerers to take the riegon, after the large, nearby Great Salt Lake. Similarly, the name persisted beyond the reality.
Where vegas seems to pour all of its excess into making things extravegant and dirty, SLC focuses on clenlieness, an extravegance of its own. This is not to say that it does not have its own disease or for the GSL --> produces food for both thing to make sense, Lake mead would have to no longer exist. It would be funny if socal shot a missile at hoover dam to get the colorado river running again.
